Jorge Isaac Maquilon and Ivy Evans-Maquilon, a West Kendall, Florida married couple, were arrested Monday after they were accused of orchestrating a scheme to defraud Miami-Dade County out of more than $200,000 at the Miami International Airport Hotel, news sources report. Nestor Aznar, 61, has already pleaded guilty to fraud in connection with the case. Jorge and Ivy, both 54 were booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of grand theft and organized fraud. Their bail bond was set at $60,000 apiece. The press indicates that the couple has yet to hire a lawyer.

According to reports, Jorge owns companies Emporium Supplies and Decomax, which sell materials for building interiors including wallpapers, carpets, and tiles. Ivy, his wife, worked on the management team at the Miami International Airport Hotel prior to her arrest. Part of Ivy's duties at the hotel included inspecting rooms and ordering supplies for minor renovations.

According to reports, Nestor Aznar has worked at the Miami-Dade International Airport for the past 19 years; his most recent post was as the hotel's maintenance supervisor and chief engineer. He turned himself over to the police in February for his role in the scheme, reports say. Aznar, 61, later pled guilty to a count of organized scheme to defraud over $50,000. Aznar reportedly agreed to help investigators solve the case.

In 2004, while the hotel was under renovation, Ivy offered Aznar commission in exchange for authorizing purchases from Emporium or Decomax, Aznar reportedly told authorities. It is not clear whether Aznar was aware that Jorge owned the companies, though reports suggest the couple was careful to conceal their relationship in order to keep their plan a secret.
