Coi Robinson Barrett of Miami, Florida was arrested Friday after he crashed his car while driving with an alleged 15-year-old prostitute he had just had sex with, news sources report. Barrett, 39, was booked into police custody on two counts of procuring a minor for prostitution, two counts of lewd and lascivious activity with a victim 12 to 16 years of age, and sexual battery. A judge set his bail at $35,000, but Jamaican-born Barrett was kept without the possibility of release on an immigration hold. It is unclear whether Barrett has hired a criminal defense lawyer.
According to reports, police got involved with Barrett at around 11:00 Wednesday evening. Barrett was reportedly driving with the 15-year-old girl in the passenger seat when he somehow crashed his vehicle at the intersection of State Road 7 and Broward Boulevard in Plantation. A police officer responded to the scene and spoke with Barrett and the victim following the accident, sources indicate. Barrett apparently failed to provide the officer with the teen's name at first, and the teen reportedly told the officer that Barrett was a friend of hers. The evasive answers, coupled with the age difference between the parties, apparently piqued the officer's suspicions. When the officer was able to get the girl's name, it was revealed that the girl had been reported missing from a Davie-based group home, sources indicate.
